About Honorary Mayor
This is a FUN fund-raiser. Palm Harbor is not a city and there is no “real” Mayor! CANDIDATES MUST BE ADULT HUMANS AND A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING OF THE PALM HARBOR CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
I’m Mike Alvarez or better known as Mike WithEdgewater. When I’m not at home or at work selling insurance policies, I’m out and about town in my signature flannel volunteering everywhere I can. As someone who grew up in a bit of a broken home and didn’t have my own bed until I was a teenager, being able to represent Sleep In Heavenly Peace really hit home and means so much to me. So many of my friends and mentors have done so much for my personal and professional growth in this town that being part of a thriving community who cares and loves to give back to its locals has inspired me to pay it forward. I’m proud to take place in this race and look forward to becoming the next Honorary Mayor of our great city, Palm Harbor!
About the Cause
Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building and delivering beds to children in need. The organization’s mission is to ensure that “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.” SHP relies on volunteers and donations to construct and provide beds, complete with mattresses, pillows, and bedding, to families who cannot afford them. The charity operates through various chapters across the United States and Canada, engaging local communities in the effort to address children not having a bed to sleep in. SHP believes that a good night’s sleep is essential for a child’s health, well-being, and success, and they strive to provide this basic necessity to as many children as possible.
